GENEALOGY SOURCES
The Clare Heritage and Genealogy Centre is recognised nationally and internationally for research in genealogy. Our Centre offers a professional service to people all over the world wishing to trace their County Clare ancestry. We house the most comprehensive research material at any one Centre to enable people with Clare roots to trace their family history.
The Centre now holds data on just over 500,000 people who were born in this county during the 19th century and into the middle of the 20th century. The age and condition of these records vary from parish to parish, with some records dating back to 1802. However, as Civil recording of births, marriages and deaths do not begin until 1864, these parish records remain the main source of genealogy data here in Ireland. We are continually adding to our source material. The source material which we hold is used to compile as full a picture as possible of your ancestors in County Clare.

- Catholic Parish Registers (Baptismal & Marriages) for the 47 Roman Catholic Parishes in Co. Clare.
- Church of Ireland records (Baptismal, Marriages & Deaths).
- Civil Records from 1864 up to 1960s.
- Civil Records of Deaths for all of Co. Clare from 1864 onwards.
- Civil Records of Marriages for all of Co. Clare from 1864 onwards.
- Civil Records of Births for all of Co. Clare from 1900 onwards.
- Property Valuation Records for the 19th and Early 20th centuries:
- The Tithe Applotment Land Records (1825) for all of County Clare.
- Griffiths Primary Valuation Land Records (1855) for all of County Clare.
- Updates to Griffiths Valuation Land Records from the late 1850s up to the mid-1930s.
- Census Records for the Early 20th century:
- A collection of some Parish Census for the mid 19th century in Co. Clare.
- 1901 Census for all of County Clare.
- 1911 Census for all of County Clare.
